Meat Canning: Our church participates in an annual Meat Canning Project for hunger relief. Working in shifts, we and many other volunteers partner with Mennonite Central Committee's Mobile Meat Canner for 2-3 days to help address this important local and global need. During our last project in December 2016, we produced 19,742 cans from 30,046 pounds of turkey. Together, about 226 volunteers put in over 1800 hours of volunteer time. Ten percent of the filled cans are given to local area food pantries. The majority is distributed through Mennonite Central Committee to countries (like Ethiopia and North Korea in 2016) in desperate need of food. We are grateful for the generous outpouring of financial resources and volunteers. See our canning project in action here.
THRIVE Food Program: in 2014, we began an effort to provide non-perishable weekend food packs to over 30 local school children.
