About Us

What we believe

Established in 1845, Freeport Mennonite Church is one of the oldest continuing congregations in the state of Illinois. Its roots and future are part of the Christian church established by Christ and intended to spread around the world, especially as it is expressed in the peace churches of the Anabaptist tradition. This tradition places a particular emphasis on believer’s baptism, following the ethic taught by Jesus Christ in his Sermon on the Mount, and in being in the world but not of it.

We hold to the confession of faith and the teaching positions of Mennonite Church USA.
